ULS helped Ruby protect herself from an abusive grandson

Ruby is an elderly woman who asked Utah Legal Services for assistance drafting a will, living will, and special power of attorney before she underwent open heart surgery scheduled for the following week. Because this client was ill and needed these documents in place right away, the Utah Legal Services attorney visited Ruby in her own home. During the meeting, Ruby mentioned that she felt scared of the adult grandson, who was exhibiting inappropriate and threatening behavior toward her.

Utah Legal Services was not only able to give Ruby great peace of mind by helping ensure her wishes were followed in her end-of-life arrangements, they were also able to help her resolve a potentially abusive situation with her grandson.

Utah Legal Services educated her about her rights, explained what help was available and connected her with Adult Protective Services in Salt Lake City.

Ruby was able to get the help and protection she needed to maintain her dignity and stay safe.

A gift from you can help other senior citizens like Ruby get the end-of-life legal assistance they need.
