The Davis family asked the Disability Law Center for help fighting for their son’s independence.

The Davis family’s eight-year-son Brady was born with muscular dystrophy which left him unable to walk and dependent on others to carry him anywhere he needed to go. Wanting to give their son more independence, his family spent months petitioning Medicaid for a special wheelchair that would enable him to get around on his own. Despite letters from his doctor and physical therapist recommending the purchase, the claim was denied.

Frustrated with the complex process, the Davis family came to the Disability Law Center for help resolving the issue. The Disability Law Center advocate helped the Davis family appeal the decision. Soon after, Medicaid reversed their decision and approved the new wheelchair. Brady is now enjoying a new sense of freedom and participating more fully in school and church activities with other children his age.

Your donation today can help children like Brady get the services he needs to thrive.
