The Southern Utah Community Legal Center is a collaborative effort between And Justice for All, Utah Legal Services, the Southern Utah Bar Association, and the Disability Law Center to provide civil legal aid to residents of Washington County and surrounding areas.

The Center emerged from the Access to Justice Judicial Council’s recommendation to establish a free civil legal aid office in St. George. Modeled after the Justice Center in Salt Lake City and adapted to the needs of Southern Utah, this project maximizes limited resources. It provides shared infrastructure to support nonprofit legal aid and pro bono programs in the area, offering access to meeting space, equipment, and other resources. This collaborative approach allows the programs to more effectively address critical legal issues that threaten the safety and well-being of the community.

Utah Legal Services mans the center and has in-office staff providing direct services and coordinating with the Southern Utah Bar Association on its pro bono activities. The Disability Law Center uses the shared space for client meetings and outreach as needed. Both provide community legal education and outreach efforts to residents in the area.

By creating a coordinated effort between nonprofit legal aid providers and the private bar, this collaboration builds capacity within the legal system to close service gaps and respond more effectively to the specific challenges facing Southern Utah residents. It also offers judges and community partners a clear referral point for individuals in need of legal assistance.
